The History Of The Tiffany Diamond

Humble Beginnings
Tiffany Diamond was founded by John Young and Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1837, initially sold wide varieties of stationery goods and was mostly operated in downtown Manhattan. Its original name, Tiffany and Young and Ellis, was shortened simply to Tiffany & Co. by 1853, right after Charles Tiffany decided to take control of the small company. Right there and then, the company put prominence on jewelry which eventually established itself in the business world.
In early 1848, newspapers from New York City dubbed Charles Lewis Tiffany as the “King of Diamonds”. The quality of a Tiffany Diamond back then, and has remained, commendable. In 1887, Tiffany bought the French Crown Jewels which really shocked the whole world. That was the start of Tiffany Diamond, becoming the world’s authority in producing the finest diamonds.
