Thousands of people wear gold chains.  Some of these gold chains are very thin and delicate while others are thick and chunky.  These chains are worn by men and women of all ages.  Some of the chains are made of gold that is almost pure, but usually the gold chains have other metals added for strength.  Pure gold chains would be very soft, and people would probably break them very quickly.  Many of these chains that are worn around the world are fourteen to twenty-two caret gold.  Some people wear gold chains alone, but other people use the gold chains to hold other pieces of jewelry such as a pendant.

Gold chains are made from one of the most valuable metals available in the world.  Although other precious metals might be more valuable per ounce, gold is usually regarded by the general population as the most valuable metal.  People know the special characteristics of gold, and they choose to make their chains from this metal.  They want gold because they believe that it is a precious metal, and they know that their chains will probably never be worthless.  For many centuries, people have continued to value gold.

Gold Chains Come In Many Styles

The gold chains that women wear are usually very different than the gold chains worn by men although the appearance of the metal is similar in the chains for both genders.  These chains can be purchased in many different styles in most of the great department stores.  Most of the gold chains sold in the United States are in fourteen caret gold.  There are some chains that are available in eighteen caret gold.  People who would like their chains made in purer gold would have to order them in a specialty store. 

In most jewelry sections of fine department stores and in jewelry stores, there are many different types of jewelry for sale.  Most of the jewelry is very beautiful and usually all jewelry is expensive.  The people who buy the gold jewelry usually love the color of gold.  The color is admired by many people – rich and poor.  The people who buy gold jewelry know that it will keep the valuable or become more valuable because of the special place that gold has in the mind of people around the world.  The designs might become unfashionable but the metal will retain its value.  The gold jewelry can be melted and redesigned if the owner gets tired of the design.
